What is Gender-Based Violence?
-Violence that is directed at an individual based on his/her biological sex or gender identity. It could be physical, sexual, emotional, verbal, economic or educational deprivation.
It's an issue faced work wide but in South Africa it has taken a wild turn that has left women fearing for their lives. There are new cases daily of both men and women who have been brutally attacked by their significant partners and some even lose their lives.
Women who stayed in abusive situations and left at some point mention a feeling of hopelessness and helplessness which consumes them and they just stay in that relationship. Others mention staying because of their children.
Well this is a time for those of you who are in a situation similar to know that you are not alone and there people who are there no matter what.
